Integrative Occupational Therapy
Affect Integrative Therapy offers a unique style of pediatric occupational therapy services with the integration of child and family coaching. Coaching is an empowering tool that supports the therapeutic process more comprehensively through developing knowledge and awareness of "energy" so that a person is at the affect of life situations verses at the effect of them. Affect Integrative therapists work toward building on the developmental strengths that are possessed by a child in a fun, play-based manner while providing education to parents. Parents will be provided education on how to build on their child's developmental skills through using coaching techniques to enroll their child, thus shifting the family paradigm to be more positive. Through integrated therapy, families will draw forth on their child's strength through having a greater understanding of their child based on age appropriate physical and emotional development, and in turn family goals will be attained in the most effective manner. This integrated method has been developed to support families more comprehensively through using an inclusive and holistic approach to the traditional occupational therapy practice.
Vision
Affect Integrative Therapy believes that self-awareness is a key component to being able to respond to life situations rather than react to them.
Our vision is to build on a new way of thinking and feeling so that there is a "shift" in parenting. Affect Integrative Therapy strives to support families through building a partnership with the intention to shift the family paradigm into "win/win" scenarios so that every family member feels enriched, happy, and confident.
Affect Integrative Therapy practices are founded on the principles of raising the "conscious awareness" within households so that there is a shift towards more understanding, connection, communication, compassion, joy, and love.
We aim to see a world where children, no matter what developmental difference or age, are regarded as competent and wise thus giving permission to parents to place emphasis on being mindful of their own thoughts and actions, and therefore being responsive rather than reactive to their child’s needs.
Mission
Our mission at Affect Integrative Therapy is to partner with families who are ready to be empowered through becoming more aware of their energy and core beliefs.
We are motivated to create family dynamics where family members see their situation more objectively, with greater awareness and with a greater knowledge of child and adolescent development.
Affect Integrative therapists are here to support the developmental needs of children by fostering a loving environment where the family and therapists work together to come up with a plan that is tailored to meet each child’s specific needs while optimizing the family connection. We believe if parents continue to do what they are doing, they will continue to get what they are getting.
It is our mission to partner with parents to improve the areas that feel troublesome.
Affect Integrative Therapists are here:
- To ask thought provoking questions that will help families explore actions and reactions from a more consciously aware standpoint.
- To help better understand what a child's needs are in a developmentally appropriate manner.
- To help connect families and strengthen communication while eliminating stress and overwhelm.
- To support families to become leaders rather than managers.
How did the owner/founder arrive at this mission?
Elizabeth Zoley has learned through being a parent and occupational therapist that children are the greatest teachers. She has found through her own personal experiences the lesson in how children mirror what is modeled to them. Instead of looking to mold a child's behavior through a reinforcement system, she has studied the positive affects of becoming more consciously aware of what she is bringing to the table, shifting her thoughts and feelings accordingly; through using this approach she has seen how it directly influences the child, causing positive changes in the child’s actions and behaviors. She believes that when a parent takes the time to see how their thoughts, feelings, and actions directly impact their child’s behaviors, the behavior and energy of the child shifts correspondingly. Elizabeth has learned that children are great mirrors of consciousness and she now is on a mission to take this awareness and make it into an awareness that every family has.
